HOK LAB
Helping Our Kids Learn About Business
HOK LAB Workshops have the goals of introducing young people to the concept of entrepreneurship and to acquaint them with small business owners in their community. By the summer of 2003, over 147 youth had participated in a combination of workshops and/or visited local business sites in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Several groups have designed and executed their own business plan for a startup business venture. While each session is limited by time (number of sessions), all participants learn that integrity, diligence and responsibility are keys to success in starting and running a business. Several elements of business are introduced to the kids, from the fundamentals of how to use a mouse and computers to how to write a small business plan. Graduates of HOK LAB are invited to continue their learning process in personal finance by joining the foundation-sponsored Investment Club for Kids. Please don't be alarmed by one of the mice on this page!!
